The Tennessee Youth Environmental Network (TennYEN) is a newly established youth-led organization which supports young environmentalists in Tennessee through awareness-raising school visits, youth conferences, and an online network. We appreciate your support!

Our Mission, Our Vision, Our Story
TennYEN aims to cultivate skills and confidence in Tennessee youth, enabling us to lead a transition in our homes, schools, and communities to an environmentally sustainable lifestyle. TennYEN emphasizes practical ways that students can achieve change and presents only up-to-date, unbiased scientific information.
Our vision is to inform, inspire, and unite youth working together for sustainability and conservation in their communities and across the state.
TennYEN was founded in early 2010 by Laura Rigell (20) and Alex Durand (20). The two decided to postpone their entrance to university and spend the upcoming academic year in Tennessee encouraging Tennessee Youth to pursue a sustainable future for our state. In today's predominantly adult-centric setting, they consider it vital that youth are engaged in the development of more sustainable communities.

The First TennYEN Youth Empowerment Summit
June 4-8, TennYEN held our first Youth Empowerment Summit. Our goal: to bring together like-minded high schoolers and to empower them to become agents of change.
